Cheongsum sisters at Chinese New Year!

Mommy had a way with getting the girls up and excited early in the morning yesterday. They had to dress up in a shiny silk dress enhanced with fine embroidery called Cheongsum(and the guys just went along in their shirts and long pants. What happened to the guy's costumes?).

Christa wanted the slim pink coloured dress but Mommy insisted that she couldn't fit into it. She inherited her cousin's pink-orange dress which made her look just as pretty. Both of them had a tinge of lipstick and they were smiling with glee.

I've added 4 photos to show the mood for just before we set off to visit our family members to wish them a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Happy Valentine's Day Mommy!

It's 1 am last night and we were awake taking a peek at Christa and Clarissa to ensure that they are comfortably asleep. Valentine's Day to me means that I would need to know that it's love that would keep us strong together as a family. And love overcomes all things and supports the weaker partner in times of disheartenment or discouragement. Love makes all things happen! I love you Mommy!

Lion Dance at JW Marriot Kuala Lumpur

We were at the JW Marriot Kuala Lumpur yesterday and the children had an exciting time watching the Lion Dance performance at the grand entrance. VVIPs were ushered in by the whole staff of the hotel with a big "Gong Xi Fa Cai". We too had the opportunity of being treated with the special touch of JW Marriot hospitality.

Clarissa was afraid of the 'lion' as the sound of wooden drums and brass cymbals resounded in the whole vicinity to usher in the 'good-fortune'. Christa shook the hands of the masked performers with a chinese fan and even touched the head of the 'lion'. No Chinese New Year could be complete without the lion dance!

Yee Sang to usher in the Year of the Rat!

This year's Chinese New Year reunion dinner was different and somewhat special. Both Mommy and I had difficulty keeping ourselves awake as we were busy attending to Benedict the previous night. We had my brother and his wife join us. Grandma had a part-time domestic helper to help clean up the house and even assist in preparing the sumptuous meal. I did almost nothing.

One of the highlights of the reunion dinner was the Yee-Sang. I thought it looked different as we had jelly-fish instead of salmon. I was quite happy to stir up the 'words of encouragement' as we wished everyone in the family a happier and more successful year! I must say that I missed my sister and her family members.

Grandpa was a superb head of the house and host as he dished out the refreshments, coffee and finger food. I wish we had more times like these to catch up with each other while listening to some words of wisdom from Grandpa and Grandma.

Christmas cheer and Flood woes

'Tis the season to be jolly! Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la! Reminds me of Christmas bringing good news to man and cheer to the downtrodden. Despite not having a 'white' Christmas, the East and South of Malaysia have been battered by heavy rains and flooding. As Malaysians, we pray for the well-being in the affected regions that this calamity will be aborted swiftly.

Although I upset when Mommy was robbed, I realised that some of the theft is done by drug addicts. The high cost of addiction (vary between RM50-100/day) and treatment (aprroximately RM25-70/day depending on whether they are on maintenance or induction dose) causes them to continue in crime.

We'll be spending more time with family and friends catching up for the time lost while going after the rat-race of 'making-a-living'. Time to find out what Christa and Clarissa thinks of in a happy family. What Mommy wants, what grandpa and grandma wants, and what I really want. And maybe, what God wants?!

Let's not spend every penny on gifts and buffet dinners but let's lend a hand to those who need it! Let's share the love with everyone around us!

John 13:34 A new commandement I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

A Blessed Christmas to you!

It's time for Christmas...

It's already the 10th November 2007, and I am still busy trying to make sales for my boss. Don't they know it's time for Christmas? Doesn't anyone trust that God will provide? This season let's all stop and take a breather. Relook at what is important. That which makes the family rejoice in unison. Remember that this is the season to give thanks and nurture the need to strengthen each other in love and faith.

God bless all the friends out there!

Benedict's Full Moon (23rd October 2007)

2 weeks ago was Benedict's full moon celebrations. It was a small affair at a Chinese Restaurant. Mommy did most of the preparations as I was busy preparing for a competition with the Malaysian Indoor Hockey Team. Now that I am back from national duty, I will catch up with everyone.

I am happy enough that he doesn't seem to cry in my arms. I suppose I don't have enough time to see him cry. Maybe I should take off a few hours from work to take a closer look at fatherhood. Any suggestions?
